Boxes of Time

We all have things in boxes that over time end up in an attic.  While installing a PA system in my house, yes a PA system, but that's another blog, I came across a box full of stuff my my days in the military!!

Those days were filled with activity off duty.  My old fielder's glove from when I use to play women's slow pitch softball.  My position was always center field.  For some reason I could get right up under that ball and the hitter was out!!

I started playing on the softball teams when I was stationed at Schofield Barricks HI!! The team pic brought back a lot of memories, how the Schofield Barricks BobCats beat the Cal Vada Valley Virgins, which was composed of bored officers wives, like they had a chance against us and our gum chewing!!! We beat them in the finals and went on to take the regional finals in Colorado and take a trophy home to our unit.

One thing for sure, once you played on a winning team, it followed you from one duty station to the next.  For me it was Ft Ignorance is Bliss TX.  Now that is a place let me tell you.  The only 5 star general left alive from WWII General Omar Bradley, lived on post.  Came to all our games and just enjoyed himself, but he didn't look a thing like Karl Malden who played him in the movie Patton.  When he came out to watch  us play, we knew the pressure was on.  Ft Bliss was softball crazy!! I mean it!! The weather there afforded the teams an eleven month season instead of five.  I played on one of the hospital teams.  BAMC (Beaumont Army Medical Center) supported several teams that were also in the El Paso city softball leagues, Our uniforms resembled the NY Yankee's in that they were pin stripped, Across the back of the shirt was BAMC OB-GYN, the image between the letters was a replica of the female reproductive system with the words "At Your Cervix" directly below the image.

We took the division championship, city championship and went on to win the regional title 5 times. The fielder's glove saw it all!! The BobCats getting the the faces of the Umps when we played the Cal Vada Valley Virgins, the BAMC OB-GYN games, and the overtimes we had to put in to win, and all those times I got right up under that baseball knowing that the hitter was out, and then throwing it to one of the bases to out another player.

I'm in a coven of about 29, which includes husbands, boyfriends, sons, daughters, neices, etc.  We're planning on getting a game together as soon as the weather warms up.
You can be sure we'll choose a name other that Valley Virgins or OB-GYN!!!

Just Thoughts And Other Things

The Moon in Capricorn goes v/c at 6:12am EST.  She enters Aquarius at 12:03pm EST.  Still feeling the energy of yesterday's New Moon, I rearranged some of the house plants and furniture.

I'm looking forward to this year!!! Plans made in 2013 will come to fruition in the months to come.

Okay, it's off to make some lotions, potions and unguents!!

Have a POSITIVELY BLESSED DAY!!!

Love this song!!! It's one of the songs I wog(jog + walking) to daily.

For some reason it seemed appropriate for today!!!

New Year, New Moon and Other Things

Make a Cosmic Statement today!!!

Well, a year has passed and searching the web, reading other blogs, pagan, witchy and otherwise, mostly witchy, here's a list of the ones that are worth following.  Not in any order!!

Tommyelf22 over at wordpress.  He recently changed the title of his blog.  I've been following Tommy for a number of years.  Only good things to say about his blog.

John Beckett another great pagan writer!!! Just started following his blog this year, and so much of his writing hits home.

Wiccan Moonsong, she's over on facebook too.  This blog has the best daily updates, inspiration and keeps you focused on living your life as a witch, pagan or whatever.

Ancient Magickal Recipes online, This blog I totally love.  Full of recipes of the magickal kind.  All kinds of recipes.

The Secret Life of the American Witch, This is a weekly blog.  It's like a witchy newspaper on line.  Several different writers contribute to this blog.  Check it out for yourself.

As mentioned before there are a lot of pagan/witchy blogs out there to fill you pagan/witchy needs but the ones I listed above are the ones I follow daily and weekly.

CELEBRATE LIFE!!!

Celestial Happening

Do you think the Full Moon on August 20 - 21, 2013 is a Blue Moon?

Post in the comments section!!

I say it is, because the last Full Moon was on July 22, 2013 when the Moon entered Aquarius; the Moon enters Aquarius on Tuesday, August 20!! About 28 days or so!!

Sunday Morning Blues

This is something I do every Sunday.

This is the original version of Hound Dog, before Elvis.  They had to clean up the lyrics before it could be released by Elvis.

And speaking of Buddy Guy

Magical Correspondences

I recently purchased this book and glad I did!!  It covers all things needed to do a ritual, spell or anything else.  Even what is needed for a specific spell.

I've always had to check several books to find what I needed to do rituals or spells.  Here the information is located in one book.

A wise investment for this frugal witch.

The Turning of The Wheel of The Year

Normally, August is one of the hottest months on record for where I live.  The gardens are producing, canning, also called putting up, freezing, and drying veggies and herbs is in full swing.  The Winter garden is being planted according to the Almanac. So far this week the temps have been more Fall like, 80s during the day and high 50s at night.  This is football weather!!

I just happened to check my fav online weather site and noticed that as of yesterday, the Sun has started setting before 7p.  Each year when this happens, I start to feel the Wheel of the Year turning and the closer we get to Mabon and Samhain the faster the wheel seems to turn.  Winter brings on staying inside more, I'm an outdoor person.  Moving the furniture around again to accommodate indoor rituals if needed.  Journeying to Bridget's Well to collect pristine water and greens for Yule decorations, putting in more time at the website where I do Tarot Readings, and just mainly getting thru the Winter.  And the old timers here are predicting not a good Winter.

Granted, September is just a few weeks away and this weather should happen  then, but the forecasters say this cooler weather is just a blip on the weather radar screen and hot weather will return.
